A More Serious Dilemma

Sharp-shinned or Cooper's Hawk? (It's an immature and one or the other, but I'm confused.) And these are the best photos I got, even though they're not great.

Sharpies are little, Coops are bigger. So if the bird was the size of a large popsicle on a stick (maybe for bird reference, twice the size of a cardinal), then it's a sharpie. If it's bigger than that, it's a Coop. Females are slightly bigger.

  3. Neat pictures. Not a clue what type of hawk. I had a hawk's nest somewhere in the woods near my house this year. The hawks made lots of noise whenever I drove car out of garage. Haven't seen signs of them for a few weeks, so I'm guessing they've gone elsewhere. Never got a decent photograph of them.

  4. I have no idea. But the other day I saw a small, vibrant yellow and black bird taking a bath in a puddle and thought to myself, "Bardiac would take a great picture of that."
