Ouch is right. Salary compression is also a huge problem in our jobs. Even though I got a decent starting salary, it's pretty much what I'll be making for the rest of my life, sounds like. So I'll be getting paid less over the years, despite my growing expertise. I think that happens a lot in academia. :(
