I left work this afternoon after extended office hours and went out to a local birding spot. There were a fair number of birds out, including this Greater Yellowlegs.
And here's a Wood Duck.
(Both of these pictures were cropped.) To me, Wood ducks just look like someone's idea of a fancy duck that couldn't possibly be. But there they are.
I also saw: Red-Winged Blackbirds, Northern Rough-winged Swallows, Tree Swallows, Barn Swallows, Blue-winged Teal, Green-winged Teal, Buffleheads, Mallards, American Coot, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Pied-Billed Grebe, Horned Grebe (first time!), Lesser Yellowlegs.
