The Nearest Book Meme

I've seen this around a couple places now, notably Dr. Crazy did it, and so did Horace over at the brand spanking new To Delight and Instruct. It's a tag yourself kind of thing, so feel free to pick it up and run with it. Here are the rules:

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 4 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

So, here goes:

One of you give him a crown.
And, sirrah, leave this kind of life.
If thou beest 'tainted for a penny matter
And come in question, surely though wilt truss.
Come, Master Arden, let us be going;
Your way and mine lies four mile together.

Yes, I was prepping class, can you tell? That's because I was in the middle of rereading some Jonson (in an anthology) when I decided to check some blogs. I am so busted!

PS. I've let the Friday Poetry blogging go for a while now. I'll probably come back to it soon.

  1. Hi Bardiac,
First off, I like your blog. I will be adding you to my list of 'good blogs'. This is a rare honour, so feel proud -- I am a fussy one on such things.

Second, I spotted your Book meme thing over at the GBitch site. For fun I tried it. The results were so 'out there' that I even blogged it. Should you want to laugh, come visit and see (combatphilosopher.blogspot.com).
I guess that I need to get out (to the library) more!

  2. Oh, cool, thanks, The CP! I looked, and yours were indeed, out there.

Mine's from Arden of Feversham (or Faversham, if you prefer that spelling), a wonderfully fun play that reminds me a lot of A Fish Called Wanda (except without the Nietzsche references, because anonymous apparently didn't read Nietzsche back in the 16th century).
