(We don't get the movie theater broadcasts anywhere near me, so I'm glad they're also putting these out on DVD.)

Much Ado is one of my favorite plays, but Claudio / Hero is difficult (and I think I love it because it's difficult -- faith in stuff you can't see is hard, and I really like the counterpoint between Hero's (and Beatrice's, and Benedick's, and eventually Leonato's) willingness to trust without positive proof, vs. Don Pedro's and Claudio's inability to see the truth without something more concrete. And the whole marriage-to-a-veiled-lady bit at the end is neat because he finally takes a leap on blind faith. Or at any rate, that's how I rationalize it to myself.)Fretful Porpentinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11165078003123517013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17974015.post-14548471702353143022012-10-24T09:35:32.039-07:002012-10-24T09:35:32.039-07:00Even though I'm the dramaturge for Much Ado he...Even though I'm the dramaturge for Much Ado here at Heartland and even though I adapted the script for it....I f-ing despise that play. There. I said it. I think I just have a tendency to like the tragedies and the histories (!!!) a lot more. But I find most of the relationships in the comedies to be unsatisfying. Thus, I'm just not a big fan of the comedies. Oh well.

I would certainly like to see if Globe productions were playing around here. It would be great to send students to them. I'll look to it.
