"Vocabulary" sounds like something that happens to you, while "wordhoard" sounds like something you do, perhaps even something you're compelled to do, obsessively scavenging for words and hoarding them for future use.Bevhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05412883073330413390noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17974015.post-71407446328707781792007-01-15T00:11:00.000-08:002007-01-15T00:11:00.000-08:00My one of my favorite words is 'Lagniappe'.

For instance, 'if blogger X says anything sane this week, it will be lagniappe'. Links about this term are available here and here.

My own favorite though is 'Hi-hi', which in the Cree language means 'Thank you'. When I worked on a Cree reservation, they were terribly funny about the fact that they lacked a word for 'Please' in their language.

The CPThe Combat Philosopherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06533397644493139591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17974015.post-40234937430346208932007-01-14T23:56:00.000-08:002007-01-14T23:56:00.000-08:00English: I've liked 'verisimilitude' for some stra...English: I've liked 'verisimilitude' for some strange region since I first chanced across it.
